Keep afloat with a pre-nup

No one wants to think about what would happen if your marriage or civil partnership ended.

But let’s consider it for a minute.

What would happen to your house, money, and even your beloved pets?

A pre-nupital agreement acts as a safety buoy, it’s there just in case of an emergency.

What can a pre-nup cover?

A pre-nup is designed to primarily protect your assets, so can include how you would divide items such as:

  • Sole or joint-owned property
  • Savings
  • Income

You can also have a petnup, which outlines who would be the primary carer of pets in the event of separation or divorce.

Whilst a pre-nup isn’t legally binding, the courts consider them if you do separate, and appear to be giving increasing weight to them.
