How our solicitors can help you with your divorce
Under the new no-fault divorce system, you no longer need to blame your spouse or give reasons for the breakdown of the marriage.
Either one of you, or both together jointly, can apply on the basis that the relationship has ended – irretrievably broken down.
You can only make an application for divorce after at least one year of marriage.
It can be tempting to think you don’t need a solicitor for a divorce, especially in cases where the marriage has ended amicably.
However, divorce involves a series of legal steps and forms that must be completed correctly and submitted on time. Mistakes can cause delays, extra costs, or even a rejection by the Court.
Our family law solicitors will make sure nothing slips through the cracks.
Financial settlements
When a relationship ends, money and property are often one of the hardest issues to resolve.
Questions about the family home, savings, pensions or even a business can quickly become points of conflict.
Our family law solicitors can advise you on all financial aspects of divorce and separation.
We’ll explain your rights and options, help you understand what a fair settlement looks like, and guide you through the process step by step.
Resolving financial disputes
Where possible, we help couples reach an agreement through negotiation or mediation to save time, reduce stress and keep costs down.
However, if mediation fails or is not appropriate, we are prepared to represent you in court to secure a fair outcome.
If you and your ex-partner can’t reach an agreement, contact us today.

Can I get a financial settlement after the divorce is finalised?
Even after your divorce is final, you may still be able to apply for a financial settlement.
There is no official time limit for agreeing a financial settlement after divorce in the UK, however, it is strongly advisable to finalise it during the divorce process.
Completing a financial settlement at the same time as the divorce can reduce legal and financial risks and provide emotional closure.
Finalising the agreement during the divorce also avoids situations where one party could make a Court application years later.

Divorce in case of domestic abuse
Violence or harassment may occur in a relationship, and you or your children may then require protection.
You may, alternatively, find that proceedings have been issued against you.
We can assist you to take appropriate steps, whatever the circumstances.
If you are experiencing domestic abuse, we understand how difficult it can be to navigate the divorce process.
Abuse can take many forms, including physical, emotional, financial, and psychological harm. If you are in an abusive relationship, your safety and well-being are the top priority.
