Basildon Office

We are looking for an experienced Private Client Solicitor, ideally 3+ years’ PQE, to join Palmers’ Private Client team. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and capable solicitor to take on a more senior role within a supportive and well-established department, advising a broad range of clients on wills, probate, estate administration, powers of attorney, trusts and related private client matters.

The successful candidate will manage their own caseload with a high degree of independence, provide clear and commercially aware advice to clients, and contribute to the continued growth and reputation of the department. This role would suit someone who is organised, proactive and confident in handling more complex private client matters, while also supporting junior colleagues and contributing to excellent client service across the team.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing a varied caseload of private client matters independently, with appropriate support available where required.
  • Advising clients on wills, estate planning, probate, estate administration, lasting powers of attorney, trusts and more complex private client matters.
  • Drafting and reviewing clear, accurate and technically robust legal documents, correspondence and attendance notes.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships, providing a professional, empathetic and efficient service.
  • Maintaining files and records in line with SRA, Lexcel and internal practice management requirements.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the department and wider firm, including supporting and mentoring junior team members where appropriate.
  • Playing an active role in marketing and business development activity, including developing external relationships and identifying opportunities for new work.

About you

You will be a qualified solicitor, ideally with 3+ years’ PQE and solid experience in private client work. You will be confident managing your own caseload, advising clients directly and handling matters with a good level of technical independence. You will have excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise effectively. Experience in wills, probate, estate administration, trusts and powers of attorney is expected, together with a willingness to contribute to the development of the team and the wider department.

If you are looking to take the next step in your private client career within a friendly, professional and supportive team, we would be pleased to hear from you.
