A team from south Essex-based Palmers Solicitors has stepped up to raise more than £500 from donations and Gift Aid to support free legal advice in London and the South East by taking part in the London Legal Walk.
Thousands of lawyers and other professionals from the legal sector took to the streets of London on Monday 18 October 2021 in support of the London Legal Support Trust.
More than 14 million people in the UK are unable to afford the legal advice that could be vital in enabling them to enforce their basic rights, with Legal Aid now restricted to very specific circumstances.
Elena Nicolaou, Maisie Yau, Ricky Valks, Helen Jago, Samantha Randall, Leanne Grafton, Kim Mansfield, Hayley McLoughlin and Hannaley Palmer made up the practice’s nine-strong team.
Collectively, lawyers taking part in the walk raised more than half a million pounds.
Elena Nicolaou, Head of Commercial Property at Palmers Solicitors, said: “Access to justice is more difficult than ever but has never been needed so much.
“We were keen to do our bit to help and it was great to be joined by so many of the team for the walk.
“The £500 we have raised will make a big difference to people in need of access to justice across the South East and we are pleased to have been able to help.”
