Are you suffering discrimination at work? Are you being treated less favourably than your colleagues? Have you been dismissed or made redundant on questionable grounds?
Discrimination is a sensitive and complex area of employment law. If you have suffered discrimination it can be extremely upsetting and stressful. Under the Equality Act 2010, it is unlawful to discriminate on the grounds of:
- age;
- disability;
- gender reassignment;
- race;
- religion or belief;
- sex;
- sexual orientation;
- marriage or civil partnership; or
- pregnancy or maternity
- Neurodiversity
The Act makes certain types of discriminatory treatment unlawful, namely:
- direct Discrimination;
- indirect Discrimination;
- harassment; and
- victimisation.
As discrimination law is complicated and you may have claims under more than one category. Unlike unfair dismissal claims, there is no qualifying period of employment for bringing a discrimination claim in the Employment Tribunal.
We assess cases from an early stage, providing support and assistance on the options open to an individual such as whether they should pursue a grievance, attempt mediation, commence a Tribunal Claim and/or negotiate with their employer. Many claims are settled this way to avoid unwanted publicity and uncapped awards.
