In the run up to the festive season, we have been rewarding children’s Christmastime rhymes with a poetry competition for local schools.
The firm once again teamed up with the three schools in the South Essex Alliance Multi-Academy Trust – Rayleigh Primary School, North Crescent Primary School and Wyburns Primary School – for the competition.
Aspiring poets from years one to six at each school were invited to pen Christmas-themed verses, with prizes on offer for the top three in each of years one and two, three and four, and five and six at each school. In total, Palmers Solicitors has rewarded the efforts of 27 children.
In a separate festive competition, we asked youngsters from Treetops School, in Grays, to design Christmas cards for our firm.
We were overwhelmed with the high standard of entries. Certificates and prizes were awarded to the following children:
1st AJ – Zog Class
2nd Brooke Marlton, 9
3rd Teddy – Zog Class
4th Liam Morgan – Elmer Class
Kimberley Portas, Project Manager at Palmers Solicitors, said: “After a difficult year for everyone and especially for children, we wanted to do something to build some Christmas cheer, which is why we ran both our annual Christmas poetry and design a Christmas card with four local schools in our area.
“We were very impressed by the standard of the children’s work, and it was really difficult to choose the winners in each age group at each school.
“Reading through the poems and looking at the fantastic card designs have been a great way to get into the Christmas spirit and feel festive.”
The festive spirit was also in evidence at our office earlier this month when our staff were asked to wear ‘anything festive’ in aid of our official charity, the Polly Parrot appeal.
In addition to traditional Christmas jumpers, our colleagues donned Christmas headgear including reindeer antlers and even onesies!
In total, we raised £294 for this worthy local cause which helps to fund additional resources for the children’s wards and departments at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital including the Neonatal intensive care unit and children’s oncology.
