A Southend student wanting to pursue a career in law has had her commitment recognised with an award from Essex-based Palmers Solicitors.
The firm, which has offices in Basildon, Thurrock and South Woodham Ferrers, sponsored a competition in which students at South Essex College were asked to prepare a presentation on why they would like a career in law, in any format they wished.
The winner was Laura Gale, who submitted a video outlining her passion for the subject. The teenager has already achieved an A at AS Level law and is expected to gain an A overall in her A2 year.
As a result, Laura was presented with the A-Law Student of the Year prize – consisting of an Amazon Kindle and a certificate – by Palmers partner Jeremy Sirrell during the college’s Celebrating Success presentation for students who have successfully completed their courses. The firm has also offered Laura one week’s work experience.
Commenting on the presentation, Jeremy said: “As a firm, we believe it is hugely important to build strong relationships with our local schools and colleges. After all, the outstanding law students of today will go on to become the outstanding lawyers of tomorrow.
“Laura is clearly passionate about having a career in law, as demonstrated by the hard work she has put into her studies and the excellent video presentation she submitted for the competition, so it was a great pleasure to be able to present her with this award.
“I would like to wish her every success in her future studies and career path. I am sure she will achieve whatever she sets out to do.”
