Palmers is proud to have sponsored the eleventh South Woodham Ferrers Swimarathon, which took place earlier this month.
Organised by The Rotary Club of South Woodham Ferrers, this annual event has in the past decade raised over £87,000 for:
- Chelmsford Children’s Wards
- Essex Air Ambulance
- Farleigh hospice
- J’s Hospice
- Little Havens Hospice
- Rotary charities
- South Woodham Ferrers Rotary Charitable Trust
- St. John First Aid
- Numerous other charities nominated by swimmers
The event saw teams of up to six people swim for a total of 55 minutes. When the sponsorship money has been counted, it will be donated to the Rotary Club of South Woodham Ferrers Charitable Trust to add to funds for the support of good causes.
As well as raising money, the aim of the Swimarathon is always to encourage people to swim and take up a healthy activity, as well as making friends and encourage team-building. Furthermore, by holding the event at South Woodham Ferrers Pool, the Rotary Club can promote the pool’s facilities to the larger community.
By sponsoring the Swimarathon, Palmers was able to contribute towards the cost of swimming pool hire, first aid cover, insurance and equipment – which rack up to around £1500 – and ensure that the event can continue to run.
Tim Steele, Partner at Palmers’ South Woodham Ferrers office said: “We’re proud to back the annual Swimarathon and would like to say ‘well done’ to everyone that took part and raised money for the Trust. It was a tremendous event and we look forward to coming back next year.”
