Palmers backs local Cinema Club

Palmers Solicitors is pleased to announce that it is sponsoring the South Woodham Ferrers Cinema Club.

The Club arose from a desire by the Town Council to create opportunities for local residents to regularly join a readily-accessible social group. Making use of the equipment at Champions Manor Hall Community Centre, the club shows a film every month on a Wednesday afternoon and the 200 registered members can enjoy free refreshments.

Derek Farr, Town Clerk at South Woodham Ferrers Town Council, said: “From the outset, the concept was to provide an enjoyable afternoon to encourage residents to come down to the Champions Manor Hall Community Centre and meet with friends old and new. The support from Palmers Solicitors is wonderful as it helps meet the costs of the project. A key element of the design of Cinema Club was to provide the facility at a very low cost to residents. We were determined not to discourage people because of admission or membership charges, but with help from Palmers, we can continue with a full programme of 12 films in the year ahead at a cost of just £3 for the year. Without the support of Palmers, there may be pressure to see this increase.”

Tim Steele, Partner at Palmers, said: “We consider ourselves an integral part of the SWF community and the Cinema Club is a very important part of that community. It provides a service for local residents and so Palmers Solicitors is very proud to support it.”

Derek Farr concluded: “It is very rewarding to see so many people get together and enjoy each other’s company and it is great fun to put on these sessions. Thanks to Palmers Solicitors for helping to make sure that we can continue this work.”
