One of South Essex’s leading law firms has named the Polly Parrot Appeal as its Basildon office chosen charity for 2017-18.
Palmers Solicitors, which has offices in Basildon, Rayleigh, Thurrock and South Woodham Ferrers will be supporting the charity over the coming year with a series of events and fundraising initiatives, including the firm’s annual carol service in December.
The Polly Parrot Appeal raises funds for the children’s wards at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals.
The Appeal’s recent initiatives include creating a new playroom on the children’s ward at Basildon Hospital and raising £8,500 at its Charity Ball on 29 July.
Director, Adam Davis, and Practice Manager, Gina Newman, were joined by Holly Lambert, Keira Hancock and Kim Portas on Tuesday 8 August 2017 when they visited the Polly Pad at Basildon Hospital to unveil a plaque marking the firm’s support for the cause.
Adam Davis said: “We are delighted to have named the Polly Parrot Appeal as the Basildon office Charity of the Year for the coming year and it was a pleasure to visit the Polly Pad to unveil the plaque.
“The appeal’s work at Basildon Hospital is incredibly important and makes a real difference to young patients and their families at some of the most difficult times of their lives.
“We are now looking forward to being able to support the Appeal with our regular programme of events and fundraising initiatives.”
Clair Grayston of the Polly Parrot Appeal added: “We are absolutely delighted to be chosen as this year’s charity for Palmers Solicitors, Basildon Office. Each year, around 6,500 younger patients stay on our children’s wards and a further 20,000 visit for an outpatient appointment. Play and distraction are important during these visits, to improve the hospital experience for children. We are very excited to be working with Palmers Solicitors over the next year, and would like to say a huge thank you for this fantastic support for our appeal.”
